CREATING COLLABORATION FOR OBSERVABLE IMPACT
Is your collaborative time having the impact that you want? Do your collaborative meetings lead to changes in practice that you can observe in the classroom? The research behind teacher collaboration is clear, but the practice of collaborating effectively is less clear. Join us for our immersive, one-day and two-day workshops and ongoing school and district support models designed to empower collaborative teams to co-create the vision of the learning that students will need for the future! In these immersive and hands-on workshops, teams will experience the tools and protocols to help guide their schools and collaborative groups to not only create engaging learning for today's student, but to develop the links between the activities and actions that we do in a classroom and the IMPACT that they have on student learning. Participants will leave with a complete suite of teacher-tested collaborative protocols designed to meet teams where they are at and move them forward.

BUILDING ENGAGING TASKS FOR TODAY'S STUDENT
"How do we engage this new generation of learners?"

There is no mystery--today's students ARE different: the information-rich and stimuli-saturated world that our K-12 students live in makes connecting to this next generation of learners in the classrooms of today a challenge for even the most experienced teacher. So how do we engage Generation Z?
In this highly practical experience, learn how to develop high-quality, meaningful tasks that are not only designed to engage Generation Z, but any generation--including our own! With simple, 'minute to get it' tools participants will experience a framework for task development that maximizes connections to student learning and utilizes structures that helps students be accountable to the products of their learning.

THE LEADER AS THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE DESIGNER
"What is the learning experience in your school?"

 (
see Cale's TED Talk for a sample or listen to a recent podcast)
Have you ever asked your students about their learning experience? Your educators? Your parents and community? Whether we ask them or not, each day these learners (yes, teachers and parents are our learners too!) have dozens of experiences with our schools--but do we know what they are? While every educator wants to improve student learning, how might we create the very best learning experience for our students, our educators and for our entire school community? Take a trip outside of education into cross-industry innovation, and learn to be the chief experience designer in your school. Co-create innovative, high-impact learning WITH your learners--your staff, your students, and your community.
In this "roll up your sleeves", practical workshop, participants will be transformed into designers of engaging faculty meetings, meaningful PD days and memorable
community touch points that engage our educators and truly change the experience of schools for all.

So much of professional development is about someone coming in and speaking “at” or “to” participants on a topic. That is not Cale Birk: he models “learning by doing”. Cale provides thought-provoking ideas and questions with time to reflect, collaborate, and consider implementation of the ideas. Cale is a facilitator who thinks big but provides real strategies. I highly recommend him." - Chris Wejr, School Principal
